How Each Session Works
Every session follows a simple repeating structure that deepens as the weeks progress:
A short mindfulness practice to settle into the dream space
Teaching and direction for the week's focus
Solo making time — music on, you work, I hold the space
Questions and close — followed by your between-session prompt and ritual
Week 1 — Entering the Image
Choosing your dream — selecting an image that has energy and room to move
Opening active imagination practice — meeting the dream image and allowing it to become alive
Learning to see what the image carries — beneath the surface, what moves, what wants to move
Freehand sketching and first material exploration
First simple captures — getting comfortable with the process
Week 2 — First Movements
Brief active imagination return — noticing what has shifted in the image since we last met
Producing your first sequences
Working with repetition and variation
Letting the image lead — following instinct over plan
Week 3 — Deepening the Sequence
Active imagination as creative compass — allowing new layers of the dream to inform your choices
Editing and reviewing your footage
Adding layers — sound, texture, pacing
Refining the emotional arc of your piece
Week 4 — Completion and Emergence
Final capture and editing
Finishing your animated piece (up to ~90 seconds)
Bonus Session — Screening & Celebration Sunday May 31, 2026
The fifth and final session is a screening of your completed work — open to friends, collaborators, and fellow dreamers you want to invite into the room. Selected pieces will be featured on Entering the Creative Unknown, Stacy's YouTube show dedicated to the edges of creative practice. Participation in the recording is entirely optional.
The Dream Animation Festival submission deadline is June 1, 2026.
